Project Introduction

With the funding support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Business Environment Council Limited as the lead organiser, together with BEAM Society Limited and Hong Kong Green Building Council launched the five-year “Jockey Club Energy Saver in Schools Project” (the “Project”). The Project will carry out energy-efficient retrofitting works for the participating schools such as upgrading air-conditioning system and lighting feature to enhance energy efficiency performance. Meanwhile, the Project will organise a new series of educational activities and provide teaching kit and learning materials to the participating schools, with the aim to enhance the understanding and awareness of green building concepts among teachers and students. The Project will also assist the participating schools to conduct BEAM Plus Existing Schools assessment and achieve certification. Over 200 schools are expected to benefit from the Project. For participating schools that carry out retrofitting works, it is expected to achieve 15 to 20% of reduction target on electricity consumption.
